Feelings II: Election Boogaloo
STELLA:
I am writing this on October 27. I may or may not have had my baby. Who knows.
We wrapped recording X-Treks so now I am free to watch the X-Files. I did decide to watch from the beginning to torture myself with season one. I did not expect my husband who is NOT a nerd at all and usually isn’t into genre TV shows to be so into it. It’s become our evening show together which has been awesome. I also feel vindicated because there was one episode recently where Nick was like “Woah. Mitch Pilleggi looks like he could really fuck someone up.” He’s starting to get it.
The BOUNTY of good D&D right now is so great. Dimension 20 just wrapped “Cloudward Ho!” which legitimately might be my new favorite Intrepid Heroes campaign. Obviously I am a former steampunker (derogatory) so the theme was right up my alley, but damn not only was it very funny but it had SO MUCH heart. And truly the best Zac Oyama character ever. HIGHLY recommended - the first episode is free on Youtube.
Critical Role’s new campaign is JUST SO GOOD. Fourteen players? A new DM? A whole new world? It’s all working. The damn campaign starts with “Liam, someone you love is about to die.” AHHH. If you have ever wanted to check out Critical Role, but have been overwhelmed by the amount THIS is the campaign for you. The characters are so dynamic, the way they are weaving everyone’s story together in just a few episodes is so incredible. Also, the character art is HOT. Like everyone is hot. Shout out to Robbie Daymond’s character specifically.
I mentioned on the last NYD that I was making an Anti Ice volunteer and donate list. Here it is. I can’t physically fight back right now but reminder that you are always able to do something. I folded some anti-ICE zines the other day with a friend. Community and resistance don’t always have to be on the front lines. Don’t get discouraged! But also shout out to everyone that was able to go to the No Kings protest. That was dope as hell to watch!
Don’t forget that Thanksgiving isn’t a positive holiday for many, many people. Personally, I feel trapped to “celebrate” with my family because the gathering is important to them, but I always donate to a few Native organizations and gofundmes. I’m slowly rolling some acknowledgements to the fam and slowly decolonizing our language and traditions to be more honest about the holiday. Small changes, slow changes, they can lead to big changes down the line!

“I was rooting for you!! We were all rooting for you!!!!”

ERIN:
[loudly clanging a bell] Oy! Shore ahead! The Depression is starting to lift!!
This month's account I'm obsessed with: art restoration
I can’t remember where I read it, but I read something I found interesting in myself - playing the same music over and over (and over) is a form of stimming. And like, duh, but I had never thought about it that way. I don’t really listen to podcasts right now, so I’ve been listening to music all day, every day. Current stims are:
I spent a lot of October reaching out to people and making sure I’m maintaining the relationships that are important to me. That’s all. That’s the whole paragraph.

Maybe she’s born with it, maybe it’s a no, motherfucker.

This month’s Thoughts 4 U:
Be prepared
Know your rights - you can sue them if they don’t read you your Miranda rights
Memorize the most important phone number or write it on yourself in sharpie at a rally or protest
Carry a whistle - in Chicago it’s three short burst for a sighting and three long bursts for ICE detaining someone
Form a crow and get loud
Film the encounter, but keep yourself safe from retaliation
Trust your instincts and keep everyone around you safe
Fuck this shit
We’ll get through this together
Things coming this month:
Final X-Treks episode this month. Holy shit.
