We’re halfway there, everybody

A subhead. Brilliant in its wit.

Build the monument to your Self.

All three of us had Unmoored Months so we’re keeping it short and sweet! Join us on our journeys and as always, we've included things coming in the upcoming month, and a look at what's happening on our Patreon (which you can join for ~as little as a dollar~) & Discord which is open to all!

Now for something completely different: t h e   f e e l i n g s

STELLA:

To be frank I’ve had very little energy or motivation to do or consume anything. So enjoy my section as I try and eke out some content for you.

Having little energy means I cannot handle “prestige” tv. Too stressful. So we started watching Ghosts which is a delightful low stakes show about a b&b haunted by ghosts. A Viking ghost, a hippie ghost, a repressed Victorian ghost, a jazz singer ghost…you get the pictures. ghosts!

I recently finished a relisten to The Magnus Archives and a first listen of The Magnus Protocol. Holds up and is a great first listen. Idk why I can do horror more as audio than visual. Something to muse about.

If you’re ever in Lansing, Michigan I highly recommend going to Deadtime Stories Bookstore. It’s a horror themed book store with lots of kitsch, collectibles, and cats. Oh and tiny cute spiders! Currently reading Victorian Psycho that I recently bought there and am thoroughly enjoying it.

Walks are very good. If only Chicago would heat the fuck up. It’s almost June girl!

Aaaaand that’s it. Pretty boring. Oh I built this Lego cat. So that’s something.

he’s beauty he’s rage he will absolutely eat your face

ERIN:

Callback to one of my quieter hobbies - one of my favorite tarot deck makers has a new set of Oracle cards based on American traditional tattoos and the cards are so vibrantly colored and you should check them out. The shop is called Bobby's Tarot Decks (no relation to our Bobby) and is full of all kinds of cool decks. I have the war propaganda posters one and love it.

I went to see Amyl and the Sniffers last month and it was incredible. Once again, buying two tickets to just whatever sounds fun turned out to be the right call. They put on a great, fun as hell show. I had never heard of their opener, Sheer Mag, before but the second I posted a photo I had several people be like “oh shit!! You got to see them, they rule!” which was pretty cool as well.

Ebay has once again struck me when I was truly fucked on my sleep meds. For those who may not remember, if I get too deep into my meds before actually going to sleep I basically become a fugue person. I will buy things on Ebay I never ever considered outside the Fugue. Last year I bought a very nice pair of Karl Lagerfeld leather trousers. They’re super comfortable, but a size too big?? Also? He sucked??? When I tell you I’ve never been so stunned to have something arrive in the mail. Surprise! It’s leather! Well. It’s happened again. I have once again ordered what I think is a leather bra?? Whatever, it's very cute and I’m not going to look a gift horse in the bra. Fugue Erin knows me better than I know myself it seems.

Let's see, what else is good? Been reading a lot more - that's pretty sick. Therapy? Doing the whole thing. Journaling? Once again, yes! I was inspired by Producer Bobby’s newsletter items about journaling to start using one again. I journal manually bc i never want any of that shit to escape containment, so when i finish one i hide it for my future self. I never reread anything in the journal I'm currently using, but i will sometimes go back to journals of the past and read through and make notes on things that got better, or got worse. actually you know what i think I'm going to go journal right now.

Best I can do is 4 hits of acid, and two eights of mushrooms I bought 4 years ago.

PRODUCER BOBBY

Oh HEY its moving month for me! We are trading in our tiny spaceship for a full dining room to host games in and my own workspace for a bunch of projects I’ve been arbitrarily putting off working on! It’s been a long time since I’ve truly had a space to myself where I lived and that feels like a big deal. So my life has been in boxes and my stress has been through the roof. It’s weird to have something to look forward to, to better my life while shit hits the fuck everywhere, but here we are. Well, not yet but soon. THOON.

Recs this month are kinda lacking because I haven’t had space to watch or play a lot while packing. The rest of this won’t rhyme, I promise. Expect all that to pick up again next month, when I’ve told myself I can have a life again! That being said:

To watch/listen/record/learn about: Merlin Bird ID App from Cornell Lab of Ornithology - My May began (a lifetime ago) with a camping trip to Illini State Park (GET OUTSIDE Y’ALL), and while there my partner would just leave their phone out with this app running. Fully offline, it collects the bird calls you record and compares it against their database to ID the birds! You can also use photos or even go through and describe the birds to narrow it down. Seeing the visualizations of the bird calls and having a direct comparison tickled my brain, so I am now doing this wherever I go. Want something like this for plants? Check out the Seek app! It uses your phone's camera to identify wildlife, plants, and fungi live. It also has some minor gamification elements like badges you can earn.

To listen (and dance while the world burns) to: Fishbone - Last Call In America

i NEED to paint this Rural Juror miniature

Things coming this month:

  • Our Xtra episode on Supernatural is up! Same show crew is same show crew.

  • 2 X-Treks episodes this month on 6/6 and 6/20

  • New Not Your Demo drops when it drops (probably 6/11) to accommodate our ever shifting lives and desires

  • Will we still be on Instagram in the July newsletter? Only if the Bluesky alternative isn’t up yet! Until then at @nydproductions you can get show announcements, hilarious clips, and general revelry.

  • Tumblr! Interact with it!

  • Bluesky exists! @nydproductions is where you’ll find us

Exclusive to our Patreon (it's only a dollar!) and open for all Discord!

  • Join the book club in June! We're reading My Sister The Serial Killer and it’s EXCELLENT. Discord has all the (virtual) meetup information!

  • Xtras on the Patreon include:

    • Show notes - Our watch-along notes. Stella & Erin’s first reactions to the episodes as they watch them for the first time. Stella transcribes Erin’s handwritten notes, somehow.

    • Scripts - Listen sometimes we just don’t want to talk about something in that moment. This is where you find the left behinds.

    • You may not know this but Producer Bobby’s scripts and notes are also in there! Filled with a ton of useful information!

    • Episode outtakes - the things poor Producer Bobby has to sift through to get to the good stuff (on topic).

Unofficial Channels joke??

We have Xtras we’ve been sitting on, perhaps June is the time….

And in the Discord generally, come hang with us. We’ve got lots of cool little internet rooms.

  • Erin liveposting fanfic! It’s more likely than you’d think!! (so much more likely that there was a bonus installment in May!). She’s also documenting the experience on our Instagram highlight, so you can watch her brain process and consume things like Hangman Adam Page and Swerve Strickland en flagrante delicto.

  • John Craig, Producer Bobby, and Jolene are solving Spider-man related music mysteries. It is a sight to behold.

  • If you love music you will also find people who love music and who, most importantly, love to talk about music!

My ex’s wife has a tattoo of me decapitated. I promise you, you’d know.

We’ll figure it out.
