What is time

Every day is a year, every month is 5 seconds long

I’d like to have something witty to put in this up top, but honestly I’m just exhausted. I’m sure others here feel the same way. Having this black box of horrors shine directly into our eyeballs every single day is Bad, Actually. It’s really important to keep fighting and be informed, but it’s also hurting all of us to be so addicted to our phones. We shouldn't have to be looking at art and then have the murder of an innocent person appear. This country is broken, but it always really has been. We’re 250 years in and the empire is falling. But we don’t have to. Give yourself a break. (Lovingly) Go touch grass. Stop looking at your phone when you’re talking to other people, it’s hurting you, your brain, and your relationships. Be present!

Okay, now that we’re done with that. How’s it going everyone? How are the Horrors treating you? How did everyone enjoy the Bad Bunny concert? Got any good book recs?

As always we've included things coming in the upcoming month, and a look at what's happening on our Patreon (which you can join for ~as little as a dollar~) & Discord which is open to all!

Feel it out::

STELLA:

lol February is almost over? I have no concept of time. Still in a bubble keeping this baby alive. It’s hard but sweet. Mostly I listen to audiobooks and read comics when he’s contact napping and jam to They Might Be Giants when he’s awake. My house is very messy.

An interesting article about the ethics of holograms in media through the lens of Star Trek. Semi related- as always, fuck AI.

Still slowly (very slowly) watching Star Wars. Here are my thoughts halfway through Clone Wars.

One of my 2026 reading goals is to read books I own. Crazy, I know. But it’s been fun to “shop” my bookshelf. My favs so far are:

Hench by Natalie Zina Walschots and The River Has Roots by Amal El-Mothar.

I also read Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler for the first time. A wild choice considering the state of the world  A modern day Nostradamus she was! Taking a break before reading the sequel because 😅😭

I also also decided to read all of Final Crisis including all - and I do mean ALL - the tie ins. It’s wasn’t good. I want to say Grant Morrison is wildly overrated because he is but ~sometimes~ he’s really really good so it’s hard. This was not one of those times. I did love Superman having big feelings about losing his bestie. That issue (not written by Morrison fyi) was so good. I’m not a SuperBat shipper but I love love love their friendship.

Remember Heated Rivalry is fake and hockey is in reality actually a really toxic sport.

Don’t forget to vote in your midterms!

Hang tight everyone, it’s only forever.

ERIN:

Sometimes after I do the up top I find it hard to have things to talk about, and that’s now.

Generally, I had a great February. I came, I danced, i saw. I met more new people this month, something I’ve really been enjoying doing with very low stakes. I’ve spread the needs of my relationships out amongst an actual support network instead of just laser focusing on relationships that aren’t being developed correctly.

I saw the new Elvis movie (documentary?) and generally really enjoyed it. Afterwards I got to have a really fun open discussion about it, about what worked and what didn’t. I’ll spoil the end of Elvis Presley In Concert (EPIC) and tell you it ends with my favorite Elvis performance of all time - I thought the narrative choices, even the ones I didn’t particularly love/think they spent enough time on, really paid off in the cathartic finale.

I’m reading: The Empusium: A Health Resort Horror Story by Olga Tokarczuk and translated by Antonia Lloyd-Jones. Her first book is also bonkers and I highly recommend it. I received it as a gift and it was very thoughtful and also nailed my vibe.

Oh also I played D&D with Producer Bobby at the helm and it was super fun. Make him uncomfortable and tell him he did a great job.

Speculate this, motherfuckers

PRODUCER BOBBY:

This damn shortlong month. I sure picked one to try and start to social hobby again, but it isn’t going poorly! I successfully ran an in-person D&D one-shot, something I hadn’t done in YEARS, and get to run it virtually tomorrow. And on top of that, I got to have Erin at the table for one game (YES I read your sections thankyouhides) and get Stell at the other. Hopefully I can keep this going and help facilitate good, warm, spaces with my friends in ways that feel good creatively going forward.

I also decided to start doing volunteer work again this month, with the same mindset of needing to facilitate good spaces. If you are in the Chicagoland area and are having trouble finding a therapist, I recommend checking out Therapy Access Project. They are all volunteers (ok I guess WE are all volunteers) working to find therapists for members of marginalized communities. WHICH IS KIND OF IMPORTANT RIGHT NOW.

Ok last big thing that happened this month: I solidified plans and purchased tickets to attend this year’s Fire In the Mountains festival in July. A four-day doom metal camp-out festival put on in conjunction with the Blackfeet tribe on their land in the mountains of Montana. The lineup is insane and it’s probably the first music festival I’ve ever been to that isn’t put on by some kind of sleeze. I honestly can’t believe it’s a real thing I’m doing, but I’m going to get through July to get there:

Ok R E C S:

Games: Ok hear me out but at least watch someone stream Space Warlord Baby Trading Simulator if not play it yourself. It is ridiculous, satirical, and somehow very engaging to play.

Music: I found a doom metal band with a horn section called Eight Foot Manchild who I’d love to listen to more but I’ve had the song Quality Pints by The Bug Club stuck in my head for a week and I’m not even drinking beer right now because my BETES! So I’m passing the demon along to someone else through the internet, which is all posting anyway. Kbye

#it’s fine! I’m fine! #narrator: he was not fine
